Built for the long haul

This is an expedition, not a day trip.

Lake Athabasca requires a full week and a properly equipped group. The seven-day schedule protects five complete fishing days between the trip in and the trip home, keeping the focus on trophy lake trout.

Jesse guides the fishing plan, but your group is responsible for getting itself and its equipment to Lake Athabasca and back. All movement on the lake is by snowmobile, supplied by the guests.

The exact access point, travel route, dates and expedition details are confirmed in writing before the booking is accepted.

Day 1

Travel to Lake Athabasca

Your group travels to the confirmed meeting area with its own vehicle, trailer and snowmobiles. The final route and meeting plan are provided in writing before departure.

Days 2–6

Five full fishing days

Five days are dedicated to guided ice fishing with trophy lake trout as the main target. Daily decisions follow current weather, ice and fishing conditions. No catch or fish size is guaranteed.

Day 7

Pack out and travel home

The group packs out and travels home using its own transportation. This return-travel day is part of the seven-day expedition.

Guest responsibility

What your group supplies

  • All transportation to Lake Athabasca and home
  • Vehicle and trailer capacity for the group's equipment
  • Snowmobiles and all on-lake transportation
  • Fuel, personal winter clothing and required fishing licences

The written quote will state the final meeting point and exactly what is included for basecamp, meals, fishing equipment and other supplies. Do not assume an item is included unless it appears in that plan.

Remote winter travel

Conditions control the final go-ahead.

Lake Athabasca is a remote, serious winter environment. Ice, extreme cold, visibility, snow, access and equipment readiness can change the route, fishing plan or whether the trip can safely proceed.

If Jesse cancels for unsafe ice, severe weather, equipment failure, access restrictions or another safety concern, the existing booking policy allows a full refund or one free rescheduling.

How long is the expedition?

Seven days total: one day to travel in, five full fishing days and one day to travel home.

How many guests can book?

Exactly three guests. This package is only offered as one private group of three.

Is transportation included?

No. Guests arrange and supply all transportation to Lake Athabasca and back home.

What can we use for travel on the lake?

Snowmobiles only. The group must supply enough suitable snowmobile transportation for all three guests.

Are trophy lake trout guaranteed?

No. Trophy lake trout are the expedition's focus, but no catch, number of fish or fish size can be guaranteed.

How is the booking confirmed?

Request your preferred dates first. After the full plan is accepted in writing, a 25% deposit of $1,625 confirms the reservation.
